Lana believes Nebraska’s schools are strongest when parents, teachers, and local communities work together and when decisions are made locally, not dictated from Lincoln.

Throughout her career as a teacher and principal, Lana worked closely with families to ensure students had the support they needed to succeed.

On the State Board of Education, Lana will stand for local control, respect the role of parents in their children’s education, and ensure that Nebraska school districts have the flexibility they need to serve their communities.

She will also advocate for greater state investment in education to help ease the burden on local property taxpayers while keeping decision-making in the hands of local school leaders.

Supporting and Retaining Great Teachers

Great schools start with great teachers.

Nebraska schools are facing growing challenges recruiting and retaining educators. Supporting teachers in the classroom is essential to maintaining strong schools across our state.

With 17 years in the classroom and 19 years as an elementary school principal, Lana understands what teachers need to succeed. She will support policies that strengthen professional development, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and ensure educators can focus on teaching students.

Lana also believes the state must do its part to increase education funding responsibly, helping districts attract and retain high-quality teachers without forcing more pressure on local property taxes.

Strong Academic Foundations for Every Student

Lana believes every Nebraska student deserves a strong academic foundation that prepares them for success in life. After spending decades in the classroom and leading an elementary school, she understands that student achievement starts with strong early learning, high expectations, and supportive school environments.

On the State Board of Education, Lana will focus on policies that strengthen literacy, improve learning outcomes, and ensure Nebraska students graduate prepared for college, careers, and their future.
