Lana believes strong schools are built through partnership between parents, educators, and local communities. Throughout her career as a teacher and principal, she worked closely with families to ensure students had the support they needed to succeed.

On the State Board of Education, Lana will prioritize listening to parents, respecting local school leadership, and ensuring that education decisions reflect the values and needs of Nebraska communities.

Supporting and Retaining Great Teachers

Great schools start with great teachers. Nebraska, like many states, continues to face challenges recruiting and retaining educators, making teacher support a key issue across the state.

Having spent 17 years in the classroom and 19 years working alongside teachers as a principal, Lana understands what educators need to succeed. She will advocate for policies that support teachers, strengthen professional development, and help Nebraska schools recruit and retain the next generation of educators.

Strong Academic Foundations for Every Student

Lana believes every Nebraska student deserves a strong academic foundation that prepares them for success in life. After spending decades in the classroom and leading an elementary school, she understands that student achievement starts with strong early learning, high expectations, and supportive school environments.

On the State Board of Education, Lana will focus on policies that strengthen literacy, improve learning outcomes, and ensure Nebraska students graduate prepared for college, careers, and their future.
